WE THE YOGI’S of the Western Hemisphere, in Order to form a more perfect Union, ………something about Justice, …..Tranquility, ……common defense, …..or at least that is how it is supposed to go? Now that the election is over, we all go back to life as we knew it before? No, now is when the real work is to begin. Our man is going to the white house to shake up Washington and turn the tide of wealth back to the needy, and we need to work together and support the changes that are going to come.
If you helped during the election, please don’t stop now. This is when we all can speak as one, keep the pressure on our elected officials and see the changes we all want happen. No excuses. So, if you are volunteering now at some level or other, raise bar on yourself and pick up one more cause. There are so many out there and there are so many solutions to support and contribute. And, what the heck, if you are just to shy or busy give money. Money counts and I have certainly hid behind it for long enough. I can tell you it isn’t easy and it makes me extremely uncomfortable to just walk thru the door of some of the places I have volunteered, some how I managed and so can you.
If you happen to be one of us vegans, there is a ton of different animal rights groups that need bodies. Look what the animal rights people managed to do in Southern California by getting Proposition 2 passed. This bill forces anyone raising livestock for slaughter must provide a cage large enough to turn around or spread their wings in. WOW! That’s all the rights and animal gets? Where is the justice in that? Any of you who know me, know that I won’t even “own” an animal I love them so much!
Not necessarily into animal rights? How about Human Rights? There is Amnesty International or the ACLU for example. Many organizations in your local area or your favorite politician might need some bodies, some phone calls, or even data entry work done. There are countless groups that work on children’s rights and organizations like Big Brother’s and Sister’s. Or maybe foster care?
The object is to keep the momentum going and use the renewed energy levels in the Country to catapult us all into more service. If you’re reading this article chances are you’re a caring person who would be perfect for any group to have as a member. There are plenty out there.
