Is Yo Bread Killing Yo?

Yesterday, I was at my local grocery store comparing bread. Not much to my surprise I did not find one loaf of bread that is healthy enough to eat. “What?!?, What is Louise talking about?” Let’s go back to the beginning. We learned that food must consist of “live” molecules for me to consider it nutritional. Basically, these foods contain “prana”. Prana is energy. This means that the molecules in the food are healthfully taking in nutrition of their own, digesting it, producing ATP, and excreting “waste”. Basically, it means that the molecules are themselves alive and that is what we want to keep in mind when we are eating.

In this modern World we live in most people instinctively know that eating “highly processed” food is not a good idea. Flour is one of the most, if not the most, processed food on the market. Everyday, sometimes several times a day, we hear health experts say, “Americans eat too much processed foods”.  And many of our favorite foods are made with flour. Unfortunately, this is very bad news for most of us. What it means is that we will have to give up many of our favorite foods in order to become healthier. The good news is that we don’t have to give them up entirely. The object is to cut down on the amount of flour we consume.

First, we have to get passed the denial stage. Our personalities will rebel against perceived sacrifice and that is how a change in diet is seen by our ill-trained minds. If we see flour for what it really is, it won’t be so hard to let go. Flour is made by smashing the grain to pulverization. That means that the molecule is pulverized as well and therefore cannot function. It ceases to take in nutrients, no longer produces ATP and cannot excrete. That is “dead” by any standard. Flour is not easily digested; basically your body doesn’t recognize it as nutrition. One thing for sure, it elevates glucose levels in the blood. When we consider how often this happens in our bodies on a daily basis we will see it is the last thing our diabetes prone population needs. Sugars, in their thousand forms are added to our diets everyday. Each and every time we eat sugar or its cousins, it raises our blood pressure and heart beat. Sugar is a mind and mood altering substance because of the way it acts in our system and flour acts the same way.

Beware, many people think that because the package says, “whole grain” that it has whole grains in it. It does not have whole grain, it has whole grain FLOUR. That means that what was (once-upon-a-time) whole grain wheat is now made into flour and then put into your bread, cereal, or bagel. I buy “sprouted 100% whole grain bread”. The number one ingredient is ORGANIC SPROUTED WHEAT. The wheat kernel is still intact. The bread is harder than flour bread, but it is still “live” and has not been pulverized or overly processed. I also buy spinach noodles to substitute for flour noodles.

I know you don’t want to hear this and will rebel against it. Once you are done going thru the stages of denial and bargaining you can come back and re-read this article. Some of you it may take years, some hours, days or weeks. Hopefully, for some it will “click” immediately and you can withdraw today. Expect difficulties. If you are committed to a healthy diet you will feel your reward within weeks. The “ups and downs” of your energy levels and your emotional peaks and valleys you go thru each day, all day, will level out! Imagine the joy in that. Especially, if you are a woman who has monthly hormonal changes or are menopausal this change will benefit you by cutting down on the amount of times you experience swings in emotion on a daily and monthly basis.

We go thru these changes every day and don’t know why, don’t relate our irritability to the food we eat and it is not our fault. We have been taught by the public school system how to eat, what is “good” for us, and how much of it we need. Most of what we have been taught is a lie. Look around you for one day and count the number of people you think might be overweight. It is astonishing and it is very sad. Recent studies show fat as more damaging to your health than excessive smoking and drinking alcohol combined. Yes, excessive! Yes, combined! There’s some food for thought.

Stop and think about all the flour you are consuming and see it for what it is. It is mind and mood altering. It turns into glucose in the blood. It is made of “dead” molecules and does not contribute nutrition to your body. Now that you know what you’re eating you can make healthy decisions about how much and how often you want to eat this stuff. I am not saying you can never have another doughnut……… Knowledge is the key to good health and you deserve to be healthy!
