Last month I told a nice story about how I got my new job, and while it was an interesting example of the art of manifestation I really didn’t give you the “how to” on this system or explain the system itself. There are people who have approached me at a speaking engagement and said it all sounds too hard or complicated, and they don’t think they have it in them to do. My answer is the same as it is when I am asked about the path. “You are doing it now, apparently just not very well”. We are all creating our reality every day. Why not take some time and get good at it?
What we are really talking about is called thought form creation, and if you want to get really spooky, white magic. We all have thoughts all day long that come to nothing. Ideas cross your mind, sometimes very good ideas that we fail to act on. Our minds tend to flit from one thing to another and the good ideas are lost along the way just like the bad or let’s say useless ones. Sometimes we may not be in a position where we feel we can do anything about the idea so we just blow it off.
How many of you thought years ago that it would be a great idea to put a windshield wiper on the back window of your car, or a rear view mirror on the passenger side? If you are too young to remember, cars didn’t have those things back in the 60’s and 70’s. Well I did, but I didn’t work in the auto industry, so what was I really going to do about it? There is a new movie about the guy who invented the intermittent windshield wiper. He was not in the auto industry either. People make fortunes and have huge impacts on society with ideas like that, but not unless they act upon them.
That raises our next point. What makes us act? When do we actually get off the couch? The answer is, we act when we want to act. We get off the couch when we feel like it. It’s based on desire more than thought although thought usually comes first. People really do things for two reasons and almost anything can be attributed to these two without much in the way of mind bending stress. They are to get pleasure and to avoid pain. The stronger of the two for most of us is avoiding pain, so we sometimes get off the couch because someone or something else making it more painful to stay on the couch than to get off of it. A mind is a powerful thing but it is our emotions that move most of us
So what do we have? Thoughts come into our minds, and how that happens is another article completely, and if we infuse them with desire, we act. It sounds so simple and the fact is that it is simple, just not necessarily easy. The idea must resonate emotionally in order for us to act on it or the thought form never really takes shape and disintegrates. Note that word, because it is really the core of what we are talking about, integration. You need to get your mind, emotions and body all moving in the same direction and functioning in harmony. This is one of the things meditation can do for us and if you check the archives of our newsletter there are a number of articles on this subject that can help you get started. It’s not as complicated as you may think.
People are motivated by desire and motivated people get things done. Desire gets a really bad rap and we do have to check ourselves as to what we are moving towards and what the motivation is. If our intent is truly selfish and separative we are not doing anyone any good at all, including ourselves. If our desire is to better the world or people’s lives and through that desire we create something of true value the universe, which is always in perfect balance, will reflect that value back upon us in some appropriate way. This is where desire mutates into aspiration. In the future it will morph further into spiritual will.
Money and financial success can be motivated by selfish greed and there are many people who have lousy motives and still get rich, but they will not find satisfaction or peace in the money they make unless they change something in that motivation, in what they are looking to accomplish. The love of money is the root of all evil. Evil is defined by those selfish motives. This is not to say that selfishness is not effective. For some people it is the only motivation and they can be very effective people. All creators work with the same energies and forces, the difference is intent or motivation. These may be the people who achieve the wealth they have sought all of their lives and still feel empty. This is the “is this all there is” crowd and it’s not a fun group. What is moving you?
I can desire a certain type of lifestyle, for instance a beautiful house. Part of the art of manifestation is to visualize, so we create a vision board and put up a picture of the house we want and the car or the mountain cabin where we will retreat for solace, but that is not enough. That has to be relegated to the subconscious and we have to DO something to get there, so we start listing the activities we will have to undertake in order to make that happen. This gets left out sometimes because it is the work part. Yes, we have to work. This process is embedding and refining the idea in your mind. Defining the thought form in great detail is an effort of concentration and refines the mind at the same time. Wishing for something is not enough; that is dreamland. We have to want it enough to get off the couch or nothing is going to happen… sorry. We need to act and believe “as if” it were already true and feel the gratitude for our success. This is projecting into the future and helping to create our result.
So, we create an idea, or more accurately, we access an idea with our abstract mind which we develop through meditation or concentration of any kind. We give it shape and detail through visualization and infuse it with our desire to see it to fruition. We make a plan of action and decide what is necessary to make this dream a reality and then we get to work. This is the art of manifestation. If it were easy, everyone would be good at it. We are all doing it every day but most of us are not manifesting the life we really aspire to. Look at your relationships, your job, your life in general. If you are not satisfied you need to make changes. The bad news (for some) is that you created this mess yourself. The good news is you created it once, you can create it again and this time with a little discipline and some attention to your motives you can do a much better job. If you are already happy, and I am, that’s great keep it up and we will all build a wonderful reality together.
