The Triune Nature of Being

The criterion for truth is its universal employment. A very practical application of this threefold principle was shared by Napoleon Hill in his book, "Think and Grow Rich." He said, "What the mind of man can conceive and believe it will achieve", a threefold process. One, conceive - plus two, believe - equals three, achieve. Tolstoy phrased it otherwise; "Act as if you are and you will become rich." I read into his prescription for success the workings of the process we’ve been addressing. Add to the laser like focus of a well conceived thought form, the power of belief and you have the invariable result - achievement. Eliminate one or the other and the resulting third will not manifest. A thought form or conception gains its power from our personal identification and faith. Permit your conception to be foggy, crude, not clearly defined or specific, with incompatible agendas, or suffer your faith to be shaken, vacillating and impotent, and the results will be confusion and mediocrity at best.

The metaphysical construct would be as follows: create a focused, well defined thought form, made of the mind stuff that characterizes the dimension of mind or mental plane, as all thoughts, perforce, must be, and clothe it in the substance of the Astral realm wherein our beliefs and desires begin to take shape and form, and, dependent upon the directed focus and intensity of the consciousness thus set in motion, experience the outward manifestation in the physical world. As a matter of fact, once the process has been initiated the results are a foregone conclusion.

Thus, “Be careful what you wish for, because you’re going to get it.” The human predicament, as I see it, is how easily we can become seduced by the exercise of this innate power we possess, when once we begin to understand it, and how readily we can become diverted from the spiritual Path of our soul through the improper and self-serving application of our awakening faculties. The use of our blossoming, psychic faculties for personal gain and private ends is black magic; whereas white magic is defined as the application of spiritual principles and laws for the common good. Actions that are seen as essentially the same are decidedly different when the agenda of the initiator is self serving as opposed to altruistic. However, even more important than being helpful is to be harmless. To cognize the difference takes vision of an extraordinary nature and
an impeccable soul.

The Bible phrased it thusly, “If Ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, Ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” (Matt.17:20) Further, “All things are possible to him that believeth.” (Mark 9:23) Further still, “As a man thinketh in his heart so he is” (Proverbs 23:7). Mind, plus emotions, faith or desire; produces results. An idea is propelled into manifestation through the potency of belief. Thus does conception truly become reality.

So pervasive is this triune process that it also manifests in three distinct fashions. First there is the third as a product of the two. One plus one equals three, thought plus faith creates  achievement. Sodium plus chlorine produces table salt. Then we have the third condition seen as relativity. The ever shifting relationship between the dichotomies as evolving consciousness is relative to the interaction of Spirit and Matter or the relation of the observer to the observed, defi ned as observation. Finally we have the third aspect of the triune nature of existence providing the fulcrum or pivotal point, the point of balance or equilibrium between the extremes, as the present is to the past and future or time is to space and motion. The accompanying chart (page 138) will give some indication of Nature’s myriad applications of this principle. I have attempted to express this concept in various terms, applicable to diverse circumstances, to demonstrate the universality of the process. Some reflection on the part of the reader will uncover numerous additional examples to be found everywhere for the principle is universal. I have also taken the liberty of including a few of the arcane terms taken from some of the Eastern religious and philosophic systems for those who might find these of interest.

As you explore these affiliations, bear in mind the underlying formulation just expressed; one, (column A) in concert with two, (column B) produces three (column C).A and B represent the dichotomies of existence. Column C represents that which is relative to both. C is ever the product of, relation to, or pivotal point between, the polarities.
