The Numbers Game Part 2
An excerpt from “One Solitary Life Book II - From the Unknown to the Known?”
The universe may be likened to an infinity of mirrors; each level is a reflection of the previous and, in its turn, is reflected again upon succeeding levels. As above, so below; the microcosm reflects the macrocosm, like in kind, differing in degree. As the Hermetic philosophy suggests, analogy or the Law of Correspondences is the surest guide to a proper comprehension of the Laws that guide the Divine Process. Understanding the universal, we may see it at work in the particular or focused upon the particular we may then reach out to embrace its analogous, universal corollaries. Once in possession of the principle, it is possible to extrapolate to ten, ten thousand or ten zillion applications. To reiterate, as words are representative of natural facts, so it is that natural facts are symbols of Spiritual Laws, “On Earth as it is in Heaven.” Nature is an endless combination and repetition of a few august Laws. Cause and effect, action and reaction are as native to the spiritual process as they are to the laws of physics though their relativity may shift. Cause and effect are the chancellors of God governing manifested existence. All forms, whether they are of a physical nature or the subtler forms that populate the inner worlds of reality, are subject to the laws of cause and effect or Karma. Cause and effect may thus be likened to a tree and its roots. The roots though hidden are causative, and the tree, the outward manifested effect.
All things in manifested existence are dual, the visible world, therefore, must have an initiating spiritual side and will always preserve a precise relation to its first, originating Cause. The Nature and Power of the Spiritual Universe conspires to express Itself through every form. The universe is engaged in a cloning process. The original and initiating Cause is the Divine Essence. Its first manifest expression is the “One Solitary Life,” in Its dual Nature of Spirit and Matter. The cloning process has repeatedly worked its magic creating, as It unfolded, Kingdom upon Kingdom of Nature, replicating a Divine Pattern that has left Its mark upon the internal spiritual structure of every life form. We too, are Its clones. This cloning process reached an unprecedented level of development, on earth, in the personage of Christ, thereby setting a bench mark for the whole of humanity. The effects of that marvelous transformation are universal indeed and are relevant to the unfolding that has been and is now occurring in every human psyche.
As in every division of the universe, God appears intact, with all Its Parts in every weed and cobweb, in every atom or star. As any one of Life’s cloned energy patterns undergoes its evolutionary changes, the impact and imprint is universal in its effects for it changes every corresponding aspect of the entire system. In like manner the entire universe is captured in a drop of dew, in every speck of dust. The Cosmic Process is to be found in every atom. Eternity resides in a moment of time. The near defines the far, as a spark, a star. The small, a microcosm of the whole as a drop portrays an ocean in miniature. In every cell is to be found the blueprint of the whole.
We are being forced by the weight of accumulated scientific evidence to acknowledge intelligence in every atom. The manifest universe is an expression of a network of energy patterns and information – a flowing tide of intelligence. On its own unique level, each form is alive and conscious, remembers and builds upon its internal programming, the basis of natural selection. “Every atom in the Universe has the potentiality of Self-consciousness in it, and is a universe unto itself and for itself. It is an atom and an angel.” (Secret Doctrine)
We live in a holographic universe, energy patterns in relation to one another producing the perceived world of appearances. Slice up the light pattern of a laser hologram into numerous parts and you will discover the entire originating image contained, intact, in every single segment, every part equally related. Make the tiniest of modifications in any aspect of the hologram and that variation will carry forth throughout the entire holographic image. A change on any level effects changes throughout the system on every level. This idea was captured in what has become known as the “butterfly effect”. It is suggested that a butterfly flapping its wings in China could produce a hurricane in the US. Thus, as stipulated above, we encounter the hermetic philosophy – above, and below, and the interrelated effects of its activity across levels of reality.
In the world, we duplicate the Process for we each put our life, fully, at its own established level, into every act. And that “act” impacts the whole, sending ripples throughout the system both internally and externally. Query – is there an external world independent of consciousness? We have earlier in Book One suggested to the contrary, a fact as yet to be validated. If a tree falls in the forest and there is no-one present, is there any sound? An equally important consideration; if no conscious, creative entity is present, is there even a tree or forest? Did it not require some form of consciousness to produce these forms?
In sports we speak of muscle memory. In the field of medicine we are beginning to understand the inherent wisdom of the flesh. The intelligence of the human body is literally a pharmacy of nature and would fulfill all of the needs of homeostasis if we did not senselessly interfere with its performance or supply it with inferior materials and toxins that violate its pharmacology. Listen to your body, it has a mind of its own and will communicate its needs if you pay attention. Furthermore, talk to it and give it positive conditioning. On a subconscious level the body and its cellular structure hears your voice. And that voice need not be audible. Be careful of the messages you are sending to it. It is going through a continuous reconditioning process fed by you, your feelings, thoughts and lifestyle. We poison the mind and body with our insane lifestyles. Even then it struggles to reassert its balance.
We are assured, “You can take this wonderful drug to solve your problem; of course it has a dozen or so side effects, but don’t worry we have another drug to offset those, with other cute side effects that we can solve with…”
The variable, in all creative processes, is the cloned level of maturity of the indwelling consciousness or soul. The terms consciousness and soul are literally synonymous, as we shall soon discover. The soul (Universal or individual; animal, human or Divine) contrives to express itself and its evolved capabilities through its vehicle, the phenomenal world. Within the human context, this would be the human personality. The predicament in all this is twofold; the evolved state of the soul in question and the nature and limitations of the matter or reflecting surface upon any given level and, as with a fun house mirror, the distortion that will occur in the reflection. A key regulating factor in all this, to be discussed further on, is termed the “Divine Measure.” Remember this term.
The world actually reflects the shadow not the substance of True Being. The personal self is the persona or mask of the true Self and wears but a faint tint of the color of that Spiritual Identity. Like in kind, though not in degree. Given time, and the disciplines provided by nature, the soul will manifest its true color and tone, in its entire splendor and ultimately the full spectrum of Life through the medium of the world of form and appearance.
Thus, our first cornerstone; the Hermetic philosophy; as it is above, so it is below, gives us one of the keys to the Kingdom. Now the second, Sacred Geometry. “In the beginning God geometrized.” The basic structural symbol of creation, as will shortly become clear, and as established by Pythagoras, is the triangle. Let us now trace the base line of the Cosmic Triangle and the subsequent connecting legs of the creative triangulation and then observe as they reflect themselves infinitely throughout the Cosmic Process.
